By-Laws
of The Ravishment Network (RavNet) I.
Name The
name of this organization shall be The Ravishment
Network, henceforth referred to in these By-Laws as RavNet. II.
Purpose & Mission A.
RavNet
is a non-profit social and educational organization founded to address the erotic practice
of ravishment: the safe and consensual
enactment of erotic fantasies involving the appearance of force and resistance. B.
The
mission of RavNet is: 1.
to
maintain a network of communication, education, information and support for adults
interested in ravishment; 2.
to
network and cooperate with other organizations and communities addressing the diverse
range of human erotic expression; 3.
to
promote the right of all adults to engage in safe, sane and consensual erotic expression
and the decriminalization of all sexual acts between consenting adults. III.
Membership A.
Membership
in RavNet shall be open to all adults eighteen and over who understand and agree with
RavNets purpose and mission, as expressed in Article II above. B.
All
RavNet members in good standing shall have the right to vote, participate in meetings and
other activities, and hold office as specified in these By-Laws. C.
Membership
may be denied, suspended or rescinded for cause by RavNets Executive Committee; said
action may be appealed to a Convocation of the membership, and a two-thirds majority vote
shall be required to reverse said action. IV.
Organization and Meetings A.
The
Executive Committee 1.
The
Executive Committee, comprised of three to seven members shall be elected each August by a
Convocation of the membership, and said Committee shall elect three officers among their
number: a)
the
Chair, who shall preside over Committee meetings and Convocations, and serve as chief
spokesperson for RavNet; b)
the
Secretary, who shall maintain RavNets records, notify members of Committee meetings
and Convocations, and serve as Acting Chair in the event that the Chair is unable to carry
out his or her duties; c)
the
Treasurer, who shall maintain RavNets finances and report on said same. 2.
The
Committee shall meet as needed to handle any and all essential business; said meetings may
take place by teleconference or online chat between two or more locations. 3.
Should
any Committee member be unable to complete his or her term or fulfill the duties of his or
her office, the Committee shall appoint a RavNet member in good standing to fill the
position for the remainder of the term. 4.
Decisions
of the Committee may be subject to review by the RavNet membership, and a two-thirds
majority vote of a Convocation shall be required to reverse any such decision. B.
Convocations
of the membership 1.
Convocations
shall be convened at least once each year to review decisions of the Executive Committee,
elect members to said Committee, and pass resolutions relevant to the purpose and mission
of RavNet; said meeting may take place by teleconference or online chat between two or
more locations. 2.
Convocations
shall not take place less than two months apart from one another. 3.
The
Executive Committee shall notify all RavNet members in good standing of the date and
location(s) of any Convocation, and said notification shall be no less than seven days in
advance. 4.
Only
RavNet members in good standing may attend a Convocation with voice and vote; non-members
may be permitted to observe, if sponsored by a member of the Executive Committee and
approved by majority vote. C.
Local
Delegates and Affiliates 1.
The
Executive Committee may designate select members as local delegates to represent the
interests of RavNet within a specific geographic area. 2.
A
local group may be considered an affiliate of RavNet if said group has the same purpose
and mission as RavNet, and assures the rights of its members; at least one officer of a
RavNet affiliate should be a member of RavNet. 3.
Appointment
of a local delegate or recognition of an affiliate may be suspended or rescinded for cause
by RavNets Executive Committee; said action may be appealed to the next Convocation
of the membership, and a two-thirds majority vote shall be required to reverse said
action. V.
Amendments & Dissolution A.
Amendments
to these By-Laws shall be ratified in the following manner: 1.
The
Executive Committee shall recommend the proposed amendment by unanimous decision; 2.
Two
consecutive Convocations, no less than six months apart and no more than one year apart,
shall approve the proposed amendment by two-thirds majority vote. B.
Dissolution
shall be ratified in the following manner: 1.
The
Executive Committee shall recommend dissolution by unanimous decision; 2.
Two
consecutive Convocations, no less than six months apart and no more than one year apart,
shall approve the proposed amendment by three-fourths majority vote. C.
The
records and assets of RavNet shall be given to an organization with a comparable purpose
and mission, said organization to be named in the proposal for RavNets dissolution. ( Back ) |
